Oklahoma built the platform, not just the tool

The most useful thing a government can build right now might not be an AI tool. It might be the place where AI tools get built.
Oklahoma just launched BEACON, a shared internal AI platform for its 125-plus agencies, with security, governance and data standards built in from the start. The first two applications are practical by design: one helps staff find administrative rules worth simplifying, the other answers purchasing-policy questions in real time. Oklahoma calls them lighthouse applications, and the name fits. They show everyone who comes next what the route looks like.
This is a pattern we think about every day. When the foundation carries the governance, nobody rebuilds the same plumbing twice. And purchasing policy is a telling flagship: it's where decades of institutional knowledge live. Give staff a trustworthy way to ask, grounded in their government's own rules, and the value shows up in the first week. The breakthrough was never the model. It's an institution's own knowledge, finally easy to reach.
