Delaware brought ten agencies to a student hackathon

Here's a fun one: Delaware just brought ten state agencies to a student hackathon.

More than 40 college and high school students spent three days on real agency problems, with real government datasets. Records management, customer service, transportation planning, benefits administration. The university had hosted four hackathons before this one, but this was the first where the agencies themselves were in the room, walking students through the problems they actually face.

That takes a certain openness. It means saying, out loud, here's what we're working on and here's our data, show us something we haven't thought of. Students got a real look at public service, agencies got fresh eyes on old problems, and somewhere in that room Delaware probably met a few future employees.
